Book Bank

Working together to create book-rich environments

Book Bank provides ready access to books for children and families by transforming book deserts into book-rich environments and helping children and families build home libraries stocked with books they love.

Through partnerships with health clinics, social service agencies, and other community organizations that serve children and families, we are able to provide more than 2,000 books each week to local children! The process is simple and tailored to each of our community partners: through free bookshelves in lobbies and waiting areas, book tables at community events, and other mechanisms, we make sure that children and families who are taking advantage of services offered by these partner organizations also have access to free books anytime they visit that partner. Children always get to select their own books, there is no limit to the number of books they can take, and they get to keep them forever.

Book Bank is Book Harvest’s cornerstone program. Since 2011, children have selected over 700,000 books through Book Bank! You can read the most recent program report from 2018 here.

Do you represent a community organization that would like to provide free books to the children and families you serve? Complete the application at the bottom of this page to become a Book Bank partner.
